end process cmd
can i use cmd to end a process, or end it with a command in a *.bat file?

Under Windows XP and probably Vista, use
taskkill
. Check the link for full info, but something like
taskkill /im notepad.exe
should work.

Menthix is right, however you may need to download taskkill.exe from somewhere if you have Windows XP Home.
I would attach mines for you, but I'm not sure how "legal" it is.
